At Onward Yankton, we’re abuzz with activity. We’re working daily to encourage entrepreneurial activity to preserve and improve our community and revitalize our downtown. Our latest efforts include:
- City Commission Candidate Forum– Hear the candidates running for Yankton City Commission at our forum, held March 23 at 5:45 p.m. at The Sandbox, located at 104 W. 3rd Street in Downtown Yankton. Listen to their points of view and ask questions about their positions before the April 11 election.
- Yankton Start-Up Weekend– Join the folks at Yankton Start-Up Weekend, held March 31-April 2 at Kolberg-Pioneer, Inc. Immerse yourself in the three-day workshop, where you’ll help build a business from the ground-up in just 54 hours. Whether you already have a start-up idea, or are interested in entrepreneurship, accounting, marketing, business, or just want to network and have a good time, Start-Up Weekend has something for you. Sign up for Yankton Start-Up Weekend today.
- Entrepreneurship Fellowship– We are excited to offer five $1,000 summer fellowships to students who exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit and strive to enhance our community. We will connect students to entrepreneurs and SCORE mentors in the community, as well as provide real-life experiences and networking opportunities. An additional $2,500 fellowship may be awarded at the completion of the program. Students who are alumni from Yankton High School between 2012-2017 and Mount Marty College students enrolled in a degree program in 2017 are eligible to apply. Download an application today. Forms must be received by Onward Yankton by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4. Applications can be emailed to email@example.com
- Design South Dakota– We’ve partnered with Design South Dakota to help our community envision the future of Downtown Yankton. More than 15 professionals from all walks of community development and design will join community members to generate ideas for Downtown Yankton. The three-day event begins April 6 with a community input meeting, and ends April 8 with a community project unveiling.
