Onward Yankton has named Kristen Hicks to its Board of Directors.
Hicks has served on the Onward Yankton’s marketing committee since 2015. She was one of the key organizers of Discover Downtown in 2016, which drew over 1,000 people to downtown Yankton. She also helped design the new Onward Yankton brand identity, launch the organization’s website and manages the organization’s social media presence. Hicks is the director of marketing and communications for Mount Marty College.
Board President R.J. Rieger said Hicks has played a key role in the organization’s marketing initiatives since it became an official nonprofit in 2016.
“Kristen truly has stepped up and take on numerous initiatives that have been key to promoting Onward Yankton’s mission of becoming the Missouri River Capital of Entrepreneurship,” he said. “She has been a tremendous asset not just to Onward Yankton, but the entire community. We are thrilled Kristen has agreed to take on the responsibility of becoming one of our organizational directors.”
Hicks encourages other members of the community to get involved, especially those who have a passion for Yankton, are open to helping out where it’s needed and have a couple of hours to spare.
“I started working with Onward doing whatever projects were needed at the time, big or small,” Hick said. “I knew no matter what the project was, it would put Onward one step closer to the goal. The best thing about Onward is working with a group that not only talks, but acts. I’m excited to meet more members of our community with the same mindset.”
Other Onward Yankton Board of Director members include Steve Sager, Carmen Schramm, Gary Wood, Tabitha Hubert, Larry Olson, Chris Ferdig and Bernie Hunhoff.
