Onward Yankton invites entrepreneurs from across South Dakota to apply for Dakota Rising, a two-year fellowship program for rural entrepreneurs designed to take their business to the next level.
Anyone interested in applying is invited to attend a 45-minute presentation held at 2:30 p.m. on July 6 at The Sandbox, located at 104 W. 3rd St. in Yankton.
As part of the fellowship, rural entrepreneurs will receive a $10,000 grant to invest in their business and personal growth opportunities. They will also gain access to free business and leadership coaching, as well as a support network with other entrepreneurs. Applicants must have owned their own business for more than two years with more than just themselves as an employee. Rural is defined as anywhere in South Dakota excluding Rapid City and Sioux Falls.
The Dakota Rising Fellowship is funded by Dakota Resources, a rural economic and community development organization based in Renner, South Dakota.
“We are looking for passionate, ambitious and visionary business owners and entrepreneurs who are excited about rural possibilities,” said Joe Bartmann, vice president of innovation at Dakota Resources. “This is a life-altering experience designed to inspire ripples of positive change.”
“This program is exactly what Onward Yankton is all about,” said President Tabitha Likness. “We hope our rural entrepreneurs leave feeling inspired and take that first step toward growing their business by applying for the Dakota Rising Fellowship.”
Applications for Dakota Rising are being accepted until July 31, 2017, at www.dakotarising.org. The process begins with a quick pre-qualification survey open to all rural business owners and entrepreneurs in South Dakota.
